Acne Treatment

There are numerous ways to treat acne, and typically a combination of treatments is needed. For the most effective treatment, your medical history and an examination will be conducted to determine the course of action that is required. Sometimes systemic issues contribute to acne, but occupational factors may also play a role in producing acne. One should not pop, squeeze or pick at acne. This is the most common habit found in acne patients and might worsen common acne, causing cystic lesions, hyper-pigmentation or permanent scarring of the skin.

Transformations Skin and Body Solutions Can Help With Your Dermatology Issues

Teenage acne is primarily caused by hormonal activities inside the body. During puberty, our body starts to produce androgens (male sex hormones) and it cause the sebaceous glands (the oil glands) to enlarge.

The enlarged and over-activated sebaceous glands produce more oil, which ends up blocking the hair follicles and pores. Also, our skin sheds a larger amount of dead skin cells during puberty, some of which remain there on the top surface of the skin. The oil, along with the dead skin cells, clogs the hair follicles and makes it an ideal breeding ground for acne-causing bacteria.

Almost all teenagers suffer from acne, though the few luckier ones may get away with only blackheads, whiteheads or small red zits on the cheeks or chin. The rest have to deal with big red pimples, pus- filled acne and even cystic acne.
